Blair Racing           The second half of Arciero Blair Racing has announced its plans to move to the cheaper IRL.
Dale Coyne Racing     Lola Ford   Although the team is currently not competing in the series, Dale is seeking sponsorship is for 2002. One deal fell through due to the Argentine economy.

Herdez Competition Mario Dominguez   Lola Ford Herdez Mario Dominguez has been named to the single car fielded by the Herdez team. I t looks like he brings his much coveted personal sponsorship from the Corona beer brand.

Tony has been confirmed as Mo Nunn's only Champ Car driver for 2002. The team will also field a Hollywood-sponsored car for Felipe Giaffone in the IRL.

Cristiano and Christian are signed for 2002. New sponsor Cialis, a Viagra competitor from Eli Lilly, will want to race Christian at its home race, the Indy 500.
Patrick Racing Townsend Bell
 
  Reynard Toyota Visteon The team declined their option on Jimmy Vasser, so he's off to Rahal. Townsend Bell, who raced a third Patrick car at the 2001 European races, is the only confirmed driver. The team will probably run only one car.
Player's/Forsythe Racing Patrick Carpentier Alexandre Tagliani Reynard Ford Player's Patrick re-signed before his debut win at Michigan and Tag will be staying too.
PWR Championship Racing Scott Dixon Oriol Servia Lola Toyota   A renamed PacWest has re-signed Dixon, last year's top rookie. Servia has finally been announced to replace a retiring Mauricio Gugelmin. The team will stick with Toyota engines despite threats of defecting to Honda, but will switch to the Lola chassis.
Sigma Autosport Max Papis Johnny Herbert? Lola Ford Rockwell Oriol looks set to sign with PacWest, so Sigma has picked up Max Papis. Now there is talk of running a second car for Johnny!
Target/Chip Ganassi Racing Kenny Bräck Bruno Junqueira Lola Toyota Target Kenny was snatched from a contractually incompetent Rahal months ago. Bruno returns for the second year of his contract, leaving Memo Gidley to search for a ride.
Team KOOL Green Paul Tracy Dario Franchitti Reynard Honda KOOL The driver, chassis, engine and sponsor line-ups stay the same for 2002, with Barry Green reaffirming the team's commitment to CART.
Team Motorola Michael Andretti   Reynard Honda Motorola No changes after a third-place finish in the 2001 championship.
Team Penske           Team Penske announced 12/06/2001 that they will no longer compete in the FedEx Championship Series. They will run two cars in the IRL.
Team PRG           Can they find the sponsorship to return? Probably not.

Vasser has been signed to drive a Shell car in CART and a Miller car at Indy. Jourdain brings personal sponsorship from Mexico for the second car.
