Friday
Shots from the first day of Formula One cars driving the wrong way around the home of American auto racing.
Saturday Morning
My pass has been autographed by David Hobbs, British former Formula One racing driver, who now works as a commentator for Speed Channel.
Saturday Afternoon
Shots from Saturday afternoon, including qualifying. Michael Schumacher showed how great a driver he is, and what an excellent car the Ferrari is, by taking pole position. The McLaren-Mercedes of David Coulthard and Mika Hakkinen were close behind, though.
Sunday
Photos from Sunday, including the race. Michael Schumacher dominated the race. Only Mika Hakkinen seemed able to challenge him, until his engine caught fire.
Track Map
The Speedway has been modified to accommodate Formula One racing by the addition of an in-field section of the track. The cars drive clockwise, achieving highest speed on two sides of the famous banked oval, including the front straight. My seat for the race was in the NW Vista grandstand, highlighted in yellow on the map, at the lower left of the track.
